Some Good Old Farm Fencing

WHERE ARE WE? La Penita, Mexico

The ocean was at work again last night and moved a bunch of sand around.  She is hiding a whole bunch of nice beach sand somewhere and has left us with a bunch or rock piles.  We know from past experience that one night she will put all the sand back and we will wake up to a nice beach again.  I don't know how it happens, but it does.

Archie has slowly learned to like the water to the point where he now likes to challenge the waves.  Sometimes he gets surprised by some rollers, but he just takes them in stride. Lots of times, he just lays down and lets the water run over him.

We had been discussing with John and Loren about changing our fences so that the two dogs can have a yard together.  The tricky part is that the humans will have to share the yard with the dogs so we will see how it goes. So, we got busy and rearranged the fence to encompass both yards.  The dogs will love it I think, and it will be good for Archie to interact with other people as well as Emma.

And for all my farmer friends who read this, you might notice that we have a true farm gate.  It seems to work the best for us.

As is the case every day, Happy Hour snuck up on us again today.  We had lots of snacks and Doug and Darcy brought their cheese and crackers which strikes a spot with my taste buds.  I am a cheese kinda guy.  Normand and Suzanne brought some guacamole and John and Loren brought a dipping thingy.  Sue shared some of her favorite pickles.  Not much need for supper around these parts.

Ok ok I just can't quit with the sunset pictures.  It's like a contest to see who can take the best photo. Normand usually wins with the nicest one.  He took a pano shot tonight that turned out pretty good.

Here are some of mine.

I went for a little walk downtown last night again and saw the leaf cutter ants working hard again.  They are down the back lane by the estuary, and it is kinda dark, so I use my flashlight to try to avoid stepping on them.

They seem to like to work at night and it is neat to see the colours of the leaves and flowers that they carry.  I have not found the ant hill or nest yet, nor have I gone looking for it.  It might be just as well to leave them alone.

The town was quite busy tonight and I was wondering if there would be anything special going on because it is the Constitution Day holiday weekend.  I didn't really see anything out of the ordinary except for a lot of people.  What a happy bunch!!  They must all be truckers!

There was a church service going on but then again it is Domingo (Sunday).  I stood outside and listened as the minister was telling the story of Pedro (Peter) and his relationship with Christ.   That is about all I could interpret from the Spanish.  He was speaking slower than most Mexicans do, so it was interesting to see how many words I recognized.  I actually sort of followed the story.  By the time I got home it was bedtime.  See you back here tomorrow!!

  2. Archie looks like he really loves those waves! At least it is warm enough for him to be outside and dry off every day.
