Spit and Shine

Happy Birthday to Sue!!!  Today is the day and we woke up the same as any other day. Coffee and a card and then we went out side to plan our day.  We decided that we were going to give the Ponderosa a little bit of tender loving care.  She is almost 20 years old and the fiberglass body is getting really prone to oxidization.  We had it deoxidized last year in Quartzsite, but that was a farce.  Lots of money for no results.  So we are going to use a little muscle on her to see if we can make her feel better.  First plan was to do the roof.

The roof was quite dirty.  You can see the front is done and farther back is not.  This is caused from the sap the leaks on the roof when we are parked in our spot in Canada for the summer.

One of the things about oxidization is that it runs all down the windshield and side of the Motor Home.  That is the reason we are cleaning the roof first.  You can see the streaks on the windshield.

Sue got calls and facetimes and video messages from all the Grandkids today.  We love to see all of their faces but one took the cake today.  Our Cowboy crooner, Donovan.  He is playing the guitar in the school music program and has learned to play Old MacDonald's Farm.  I think he was even tapping his toe.

It was fun talking to all the kids but it was soon time to get back to work.  Last fall I bought a buffer at Princess Auto that was on sale for $25.   Today was the first time I got to use it.  It sure cuts down on the amount of work you do scrubbing.  So you see the shine starting to show up??

Charlie took advantage of the empty chairs today and chilled for a while.  He is enjoying it here because there is a nice big fenced yard to run around in.

Since we got here, I have been eyeing up a bus that is parked here waiting for service.  It is a double decker Mega bus and I think it would make an awesome Motor Home.  I am going to have to do some research on anyone who has made one into an RV.  Could you imagine a master bedroom and living room on the second level, with a fold out deck with a patio door.  I can only dream.

An interesting tid bit!!!  There are 21 Dollar General stores within 15 miles of where we are sitting.  What would anyone need that much junk for!!   Oh yes, we went to one tonight and bought a bunch of it.  Lol.

Sue and I cooked a nice steak for supper and enjoyed it on the patio.  Sue's Birthday came and went without a lot of fanfare, just as I hope mine does in a couple months.   Happy Birthday Sweetheart!!

This is the view out our window tonight:

  2. Happy Birthday Sue from the both of us.
If you do a little each day, you'll soon have your rig nice and shiny.
There was a Blog with someone using a Double Decker for a Motorhome. Their Car fit inside the bottom. I'll try to find it for you.
Be Safe and Hope your Repairs go smoothly.

    It's about time.

    1. I would love to read about the Double Decker. I am too old to even attempt starting a Motor Home build, but I can always dream.

  3. Happy Birthday Sue! My kids take Metro North fron Connecticut to NYC, then the Megabus from
NYC to Philadelphia for cheap , unfortunately Amtrak is very expensive in the Notheastern US. I hope the Ponderosa is quickly and inexpensively repaired!

    1. They tell me that Mega Bus is the inexpensive way to commute between large centers. They even have them with fold down beds overseas..

  4. Happy Birthday Sue sounds like you are enjoying your down time. I have de oxidized our coach a couple of times. But I like the 6 inch buffer that I can use on one hand especially up on the ladder. Nice to get it cleaned up a looking like new again.

  5. Happy Birthday Sue!! It sounds like a wonderful birthday.
Hopefully the coach de-oxidization goes well.
You could put a swimming pool, hot tub and slot machine up there and have your own party central. I doubt you'd drive it much as I'm guessing height restrictions might be an issue and the fuel mileage is would probably be in the negative numbers. Hahaha. Dreaming is free though so keep on dreaming.

  6. Amazingly the height in travel is 13'1" which is under legal. But I bet it slurps fuel alright. I love to Dream..

  8. Happy Birthday Sue :-) Lorne, have you found anything that removes the sap? We also have a problem with it when we are at our Provincial Park for the summer.

  9. I LOVE the idea of that double decker bus turning into a motorhome! Perhaps we can find one, homeschool our crazies and join you! I'm sure that would have enough room
