WHERE ARE WE? Bentley Alberta, CANADA eh!
NEXT DESTINATION? Rivers Provincial Park, Rivers Manitoba in a few days
Every year the same thing seems to happen to us. We come to Alberta to visit each spring and the weather is almost summer like for a long time before we get here, but after we arrive there is always a dramatic change! We are getting to the point where we are not even welcome back in Canada because it seems we have some influence on the weather. Our Alberta friends are begging us to head to Manitoba, and our Manitoba friends are urging us to stay away!! Such love!. We headed over to Rick and Leanne's for coffee this morning and this was what met us outside the door.
It was nice an warm at Rick and Leannes and we sat around chatting about the weather for a while. Joey has a Lacrosse game in Sylvan Lake this morning and we all want to go. But as we sat there, people began reporting that the roads were not good and the visibility is terrible.
We had to make a decision whether we were going to go or not. It is only about 15 miles away so I said lets give it a try. I have always been one to go out in a storm and yes I know that sometimes it is not safe but oh well. The visibility was the main issue on the way in.
The game had started by the time we got inside and there was lots of actions. Joey seems to love playing and is quite good at it.
It wasn't long and he had a break away and scored a goal for his team.
We had a good view from the upper level. These little guys sure have lots of energy. They went hard for an hour.
It was that heavy slushie snow and we saw some cars in the ditch on the way home. A little too much speed and get a tire in the slush and quicker than you can say "Jack Sprat" you are in the ditch backwards.
Back at home and Rio was showing off her gymnastic abilities. She is just starting to get into competitions in a big way.
I asked her if she could brush her hair with her feet and she showed me she could. She is very flexible.
Bella's mom Dawn Derrien, has an online business and I promised to give her a plug on here. Have a peek if you are interested in Art or need an event planner or need some Reike Her site is thebohobabymomma
Once the snow quit I climbed up on the roof to clear off the solar panels. Amazingly enough, even with all the snow on them, there were still a few amps coming through.
Again today we had an awesome supper. It was chicken fingers and fries and salad as requested by the kids. Sue is having fun cooking for 8 people after just having the 2 of us to feed all winter!!
Sheri and Gord decided tonight would be a good date night for them. They chose a local bar called the Monkey Top which had a band tonight. They asked me to be their chauffeur so they could have a few drinks and I agreed. When we got there they said I should come in and check out the band.
The band was good and I just kinda stayed! So much for the date night! Thanks for allowing me to hang with you guys for a while. We had some laughs.
The view out the kids window today was a little different than it was last night when we were having a bonfire.
If the Snow is following you we are certainly glad you are in Alberta.
ReplyDeleteBe Safe and Enjoy time with the kids.
It's about time.
We will try to keep it here.
DeleteBrrr.
ReplyDeleteWell that is quite the welcome home! I guess I cannot blame your friends for wanting you to stay away longer. We are forecasted to get 4-6"s tomorrow. It is almost May!
ReplyDeleteOkay you need to go to Manitoba before we fly to Edmonton on Friday! I don't want snow!!
ReplyDeleteThat's what you get for having such a beautiful time in Magnolia Beach for so long! Teehee.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of snow! Yeuch and double yeuch, I understand your friends and family's reaction to you coming near. :0
And way to go. A Date Night but you need to bring Lorne along. Ha ha, I'm sure they appreciated the ride home. :)
I kinda just stayed for the date. Isnt that what dads are supposed to do??
