Well after yesterdays adventure, about all we could do was have a good sleep. I was quite sure that the problem would present itself as something rather simple in the morning. Like I said yesterday there was no air leaking and the pressures were good. So I snored until 8 am or so and woke up just as Bev and Vick were leaving. We told them to go on ahead as there was nothing they could really do to help. So I took Archie for his morning walk and as I'm coming back to the MH, I could see a rod hanging down. I breathed a sigh of relief because I recognized the arm off a leveler valve. This is what dictates how much air is in the air bags as you go down the road. So I got my long pants and old coat on and crawled underneath. Sure enough, the leveler rod had shook out of the rubber mount and let all the air out of the air bags as we bounced over the mini topes in town. All I had to do was re-insert the rod into the mount and we were all set and ready to go. 5 minutes maximum. It took me longer to roll my old stiff fat body underneath the MH than it did to fix it.

So we fired up and left our overnight spot in Las Palmas Midway Inn and headed down the road. We will try to meet up with Bev and Vick again tonight if possible.
We went through a variety of country today with most of the first part being agriculture. There were a few tractors on the road. We saw wheat and corn and raspberries and sugar cane and hay.
And a few sheep in the median. Now the speed limit is 110 on this 4 lane highway and these sheep are not in any way restrained. There is a Shepard and usually a dog to keep them from getting out on the road. We saw this in a number of places and it scares the heck out of you when there is a sheep like 20 feet away from you if you are in the passing lane as you whiz by. Oh yes, we are in Mexico.
Then we headed into the mountains for a while as we got closer to San Luis Petosi. I love driving in the mountains and the views are sometimes stunning (except if you windshield is filthy!)
Then around Guadalajara we went and back on to two lane for a while heading west toward the coast. Let me tell you a story about the 2 lane highways in Mexico. They are actually 3 lanes!!! You travel with one wheel on the shoulder and the oncoming traffic does too, which frees up the center of the highway for passing. You just have to make sure no one from the opposite direction is passing when you want to pass. It's first come first serve so no playing chicken allowed. It works sooooo slick and stops having those long lines behind a slow truck.
The guy in front of me should have been to the right more but there was still lots of room to pass. |
As we snuck up on the city of Tequila, we began seeing Agave growing everywhere. It is in the ditch right up to the road, on on the steep side slopes of the hills. They use Agave to make tequila and this is home to some of the finest Tequila.
Shortly after that we pulled into a Pemex in Magdalana where we met up with Bev and Vick again. Maybe we will travel together for a while tomorrow. Supper and bed was the order of the day. Good Nite!!!
