King Tides and a Boat Rescue
WHERE ARE WE? La Penita, Mexico
Some days are just perfect days in Mexico. Today was one of those days. We are in a period of King Tides so they are really high. King Tides are the highest tides of the year. Also the ocean is starting to be a little angry and the rollers are starting to crash. We sleep really well when the ocean crashes. Crashing waves are like bonfires. You just sit and stare at them all day, and that's what we did today.
Also of note is the fact that holiday season is over and everyone has gone home. The beach is almost deserted.
We did have one wee little bit of entertainment today. The fisherman who operates from the empty lot next of us has a clunky old hole ridden boat that he uses to go catch some fish when he needs some cash. Well I guess it was not dragged up on shore far enough last night because while having coffee, we saw a black thing in the crashing waves. It was his boat upside down crashing onto shore everytime a wave came in. Frank headed out to rescue it and a few of us grabbed ahold and pulled it way up on the beach out of the way of the crashing waves. It took 4 of us to drag it and it is only about an 8 foot boat. Layers and layers of fiberglass make it really heavy.
That was it for today. Although these kind of days are not great to blog about, they are the kind of days we really enjoy. Hope your day was great too.
