Off to Kingman Arizona

WHERE ARE WE? Kingman, Arizona

The wind got up this morning again out of the southwest but the forecast says it will shift to the northwest soon.  Northwest will be a nice tail wind for us.  We have a plan to head on down towards Quartzsite today but we want to stop in Kingman to get Percy and the Jeep washed at the Blue Beacon Truck Wash there.  We had originally wanted to do the Vegas Strip today but decided not to with the wind blowing.  How about that, a trip to Vegas without actually going to Vegas!!! Think of all the money we could have won!! 

While we waited I took the tailgate lock out of the Jeep to try and fix it.  It has not worked since we got it and I thought maybe I could learn how to fix locks. I had to tear the lock apart down to the tumblers and then work them back and forth until they loosened up. Well it took me about 2 hours with lots of brake cleaner first and then WD40 before I could declare success. We can now lock the Jeep completely which is only good if we have the hard top on!!!   

We waited for the wind shift until noon before pulling up our feet and heading out.  First order of business was to dump and take on water.  I met a nice couple (Sebastian and Nacha) from France there and we had a great chat while doing our business.  They brought their Motorhome over to Halifax on a ship this spring and have travelled Canada and the US.  They are heading for Mexico too so we had lots to talk about.  Who knows, maybe our paths will meet again around a bonfire instead of a sewer dump site. We headed down 93 highway past Hoover Dam and on to Kingman.

People love to fly the big ole Stars and Stripes down here even if it is the last stop!

Yup we are on the right road!!

Well we crossed into Arizona so the hour we lost on Sunday, we gained back because we are back in Mountain time.  We only had to go to bed later for 2 nights.  

We parked in a big parking lot by the Goodwill store for the night.  It is close to the freeway so there will be some traffic noise, but we don't care.  We are not far from the Truck Wash which is open 24-7.  I didn't find that out until after we parked or we could have had the wash done tonight.  Oh well, who's in a hurry?

Archie has had it after the big move today.  He say's he doesn't care what time the clock says, its bed time for him.  (and me too)   Good Nite!
