Well I lie a wee bit. We are actually about 25 miles from Las Vegas. We are overlooking lake Mead in the Lake Mead Recreation Area. We can look out our front window and almost see Hoover Dam or at least the inlet to where it is. The closest town is Henderson which is actually a part of Las Vegas.
Anyway we are parked on a gravel hill overlooking Lake Mead and although it is rough tough country there is a beauty to it that we can't quite explain. We will be here for a few days just chillaxin. It is warm here with highs of 28C and nights of 12C. It is not unbearable, but rather just right. It is a dry heat!!!!
So on one of the dog walks we took this picture looking up at the Motorhome. It is about 60 feet vertically above us. Its hard to believe that our motorhome would have been parked on the top of the water back in the day. And its another 100 feet vertically down to the water from where we are standing. The lake has dropped 162 feet from full back in 1983. Actually it was 20 feet lower at this time last year so it has risen 20 feet in a year. So if you are a pessimist, it is going down overall, but if you are an optimist, it rose this year and if it rose that much for the next 8 years it would be back to full. What do you think? Half full? Half Empty?
No matter how much the lake rises or drops, the sunsets just keep on happening. We had another one tonight!!! Good Nite!
