A Walk on the Beach

WHERE ARE WE? La Penita RV Park, La Penita, Nayarit, Mexico
NEXT DESTINATION? We are here for a while

Another normal day around here.  We play pool volleyball in the morning and I must admit it is refreshing and gets you moving.  It is a move towards a routine, which is something I said I didn't want to get into.  Sometimes a little change is not a bad thing and if it makes a person smile. what the heck!!  We decided to take a little walk after lunch just to see some sites so P & H and I headed downtown.  There are so many things to see that we don't see at home.  Right out our back gate is a wide open area that seems to be an area where people gather to do whatever they might do if you get my drift.  Probably not a good place to be when the sun goes down.

The other thing that I like is all of the chickens and roosters running around.  They look like they may rule the roost!!

A little farther down the road there was an open air barber shop.  It was Sunday so I guess he was closed.  Everyone does what they need to make a living.

We were not power walking by any means but rather just taking in the sights.  There is a neat little river that we have to cross before we get to main street so we stopped for a photo op!!  Pat wanted to make sure I got the washing on the line in the background.

I saw this sign and wondered if these chickens would be happier than the ones we saw by the side of the road.

We headed down by the Malecon to see what was happening.  A few vendors out and about and a frigate watching over everything.

I love watching the guys in the little fishing boats.  They love to stand at the front as they are flying along.  I often wonder how they handle a wave if they hit it the wrong way.

We headed up to a second story little restaurant for a refreshment before we headed for home.  We had a great view from there.  Oh Oh it looks like Pat and Harold have left me!!  I better get going.

Lots of pelicans around because this is near where the fishermen bring in their catches in the morning.

Here is a picture of the fishing boat we saw earlier.  If you see how far up on the sand it is, that is because they hit the beach at a pretty good speed and make sure they are riding a wave.   In some cases they have logs cross ways on the beach to ride up on if they want to go farther.

We headed for home down the beach.  Lots of people in the water today.

I finally caught up to Pat and Harold and stuck with them all the way home.  Just kidding, they never left me behind. LOL

I wondered if this vulture knows something we don't know.  There were a few of them sitting outside the Sunset Casa!!!

We had a wonderful walk except for the last bit.  The walking trail inside the gate seems to go straight up.  By the time you crest the hill you are soaked in sweat and huffing and puffing like Thomas the Train.

After a swim and a rest it was time for Hamburger Night!!  Because more and more snowbirds are arriving every day this even has gotten quite busy.  It is a great social event with Hamburgers and fries and Kenya's famous desserts.  Jolynn has the bar up and running as well.

A new feature tonight was music.  This weekend is the Mexican long weekend to celebrate Revolution Day.  Because of that, lots of locals have set up tents in the park and are having a great family time.  A bunch of the kids were in the pool tonight so Joe and Judy (the DJ's of the park) played some good tunes.  They did some line dance stuff and the Macarena!  They put a lot of energy into what they do.  I guess on regular Hamburger Nights us old folk are expected to pick up the slack and dance.

Here us some information on what the funds from Hamburger Night go to.  Gives one a warm fuzzy feeling to know we are helping by giving educational opportunities to some youths.

And while I was playing around in the settings on this blog I came across a button that when checked will allow anyone to comment on the blog without having to do the Google account thing.   So for any of my frustrated followers who were unable to comment, give it a try now.  I may have fixed that problem.  Fingers and toes crossed.   Have a great day.
