Off to the Races

WHERE ARE WE? La Penita RV Park, La Penita, Nayarit, Mexico NEXT DESTINATION? We are here for a while

Had a 9am haircut booked for this morning.  A local hairdresser comes to the park and you have to sign up ahead of time.  Then you just show up when you think it might be your turn.  It seems to work pretty good.  I was a bit early so I got to sit on the deck and enjoy the view.  Where else could you have this view while having a haircut?  She was done lickety split and did not a bad job I think.

I noticed that the massage therapist is all set up to give massages.  I better find the sign up list for that one.  I have never had a massage and with this kind of a view how could I resist??

Not much happened in the afternoon other than a couple dips in the pool.  We are sure glad we are parked right beside it and can just hop skip and jump over there.  We did go over to Steve and Julies to check out the new ceramic top they scored for their new outdoor kitchen.  70 pesos was all they paid for enough tiles to finish the whole top.  And it is pretty tile to boot!!  Good job guys!!

At 430 it is time for beer can races.  It is like a horse race except people have decorated beer cans.  You pay 5 pesos a horse to bet on them and the winner pays off.  Lots of hooting and hollering and cheering goes on.  Judith drops the dice in a curly tube and they come out in a bowl at the bottom.   The dice numbers correspond to the lanes that the horses are in.  First on to the finish wins with a few quirks in some of the races.

Did you notice what Judith rolled with the dice.  Yup those are our favorite numbers!!!  We won 3 races and I think they had 5 total.  Here were our horse numbers for that race.

We bet on the beer cans until the sun went down.  What a beautiful sunset from the race track.

After the beer can races we headed over to Cecies for supper.  The special was shrimp or pizza.  Sue had the shrimp and I had the pizza.  MMMMMM good!!!

I saw this today and had to laugh.  I didn't have that kind of day today, but have had a few in the past.  Hope your day was great!!

  1. Hahahaha....I love that!!! The beer can race was interesting. I'm sure you must have had a hand in thinking it up. Have a massage, they are very relaxing. Keep on having fun!!

  2. What fun! Love the mountains in the background.

  3. Love the beer can race idea, looks like a good way to pass an afternoon!

  4. Your beer can races sound just like our horse races! I also saw that post on Facebook and it made me laugh :-)
